Portree is the capital of the Isle of Skye, with its famous pier of painted houses, is a central point for most visitors. From here guests can decide if they would like to go further north, to the Old Man of Storr, Kilt Rock, the Quirang or visit the Museum of Island Life or the Port Village of Uig, the ferry port to the Outer Isles. If not North, travelling West will bring you through Edinbane, along Waternish where you can find one of the few British tanneries and other local craft shops, before heading to Dunvegan. Portree offers a wide selection of little, independent shops, showcasing Skye’s best craftsmanship and produce.
